A tip from Steve Morse: ”[T]ry practicing playing arpeggios across all six strings with alternate picking - one note per string. The idea is that it's easy to play alternate picking on one string, but much harder to switch from one string to another, so we should practice that hard part, not the easy part. Stay with the metronome, but spend a couple of minutes every day playing a little bit too fast, to stretch your reflexes, then go back to playing everything perfectly in time, to reinforce the precision that you want.”1)
